A nice pair of Wiss shears that I cleaned up. This site, which is amazing, has them listed as “new” in their 1934 catalog. The first time I see them looking like these in a catalog is also the last time they appear in a catalog on that site, 1963. A lot of information for a pair of Wiss shears, I hear you saying. But I like Wiss.
Wiss existed from 1848-1976, when it was bought by Cooper Industries, which is now the giant Apex Tool Group. Wiss sort of still exists, as Crescent Wiss. Another one of those old brands that is still around only for the legacy of its name. Some of their stuff is still made in the US, but not all.
